Welcome to the Whitburn Village Website
Welcome to the Whitburn Village website, we are pleased to have you here. Of course the website is brand new, so please be patient.
Welcome to the all new Whitburn Village website, which you may or may not be aware is brand new and that is why you will see some areas of the website are still a little empty of content. Filling up all the areas will take a little while to achieve and will be an ongoing concern.
Firstly, please note that this website and the Facebook page and Twitter account that go with it are completely independent and are not associated or affiliated with any local councils, tourism board, government or any kind of official regional type thing. It is the brain child and love of just one person. Me, Tom Martin a local lad from South Shields, who lives in Whitburn Village and who absolutely loves life in the village. I am your administrator and designer.
Secondly, this website is not being run as a profit making business, it is being run as a local resource and being built and maintained as a labour of love. Although of course administrative and server costs do need to be covered, hence you will see a few advertising banners placed on the website.
I am open to ideas for what kind of content people would like me to focus on. I have already put certain areas in place, such as local news, events, eating out, local sights, business, living in the area and of course a section purely to cover all of the local history. But I am sure there are many other things people would love to see being covered.
When it comes to local events, I really can't cover all of this alone, there is a lot going on in the area. I can of course visit the local websites, Facebook pages and the likes and see what events are being shared, but I really need local organisations, businesses, restaurants, music venues, pubs, etc to contact me and help me out with this, by letting me know of events so I can share them to the website and to social media.
Further down the lines, I would like to organise competitions, offering prizes, say a meal for 2 at a local restaurant, a shopping voucher for a local shop, a free hair cut or nail session, etc. This will both benefit the business offering the prize and will help promote the website. I will of course be making contact with local businesses in time, not only for this, but as a way of being able to cover all of the local businesses in and around Whitburn Village on the website. I strongly believe in local people helping out local business.
Anyway, all I ask for now is please be patient, everything is coming together, but these things take time and occasionally I need to stop and eat, sleep and step away from the computer.
But thank you so very much for reading this article and if I could ask a favour, please help this website and our Twitter and Facebook pages be known about, so more people in and around Whitburn Village can enjoy our local resource.
Love and peace. Tom
