About Us
Whitburn Village has been around a long time and has gone through many changes during that time, but one thing has remained no matter what. The strong sense of community that is within Whitburn Village.
My name is Tom and I live in Whitburn Village, albeit it i'm a relative newcomer having not lived in the village until 2021. I have had family live in the village for as long as I can remember though and I myself grew up not far away, up in South Shields, although after finishing catering college and joining the RAF, life and work took me completely away from the area for many years and it was only around 10 years ago I moved back to the region to spend time with my father, who sadly passed away in 2020 which makes me so thankful for the decision of moving back.
Anyway, I have a particular talent for two things above all else, all things cooking and computer related. But no longer working as a chef and being quite happy just to cook at home these days, the computing side of things has been my main desire, past time and way of earning a living for the last few years, specifically in building websites.
So, having moved to Whitburn, the first thing I noticed was that there are lots of little businesses in Whitburn, along with the shops, beauty salons, eateries and that sort of thing and lots of Facebook pages, but not much in the way of an actual website for the community and something which highlights just how fantastic our little village actually is.
As a result of lots of pondering. An idea came to mind and here you are looking at it. Whitburn Village needed an independent, but village focused website, covering local news and events, but also highlighting what the village and surrounding area has to offer.
I mean, just one of many examples I could give being EastStreet19... If you've not seen the absolutely gorgeous food they are producing, you really need to go check them out.
Anyway. this website is a work in progress, so i'll come back and add some more to this page a little later.
